This lead to Diara spending less and less time with him until he no longer considered himself to live with her. Spending time in the sewers lead to him being attacked by a Maiar which attempted to eat him by biting into both shoulders before people stepped in and saved him.ĭue to his newly found dislike of surface dwellers, Eric was starting to spend much more times in the sewers. Upon meeting Nitesho, his dislike for them was fueled as Nite would drag him around the city, preaching the religion to him and forced him to respect the guards yet he still regarded Nitesho as a friend as he protected him from heretics and guards alike. It was in this time he started to bear a grudge against guards and Unionism.
Lance had helped him while he was being hunted however had to throw him out, but gave him access to his sewer house in which he could hide when necessary. While out with Chris, he was kicked by a Hammer which escalated to him being hunted, arrested and tortured by the Crimsons due to him owning an Ailor slave which was a child as well as not being a Unionist. Xyrsi became a bad influence on Eric and encouraged his crueler behavior. He reunited with his brother, Xyrsi and mother, Fantasia, discovering that she had fled with Xyrsi during the attack however she soon left again after being gravely injured by Don Yoko. When he became 7, the heat from the vampire hives had died down and he started to establish himself through the slavery of an Ailorian child, Chris, and occasional klein. He was also kidnapped by another Slizzar which was planning to experiment her poisons on him but took pity on him, only taking a chunk out of his left arm before releasing him.
He was frequently attacked yet was lucky enough to avoid infection however built up a disliking and distrusting towards those with the Sanguine curse. He spent a lot of time in the sewers unsupervised when he was 6 which lead to him meeting Aeros, Dotar and getting wound up in plots involving vampire hives. He took shelter outside the tavern where he had met the first tolerating person, an Isldar named Diara Kalzai who soon adopted him, becoming his first adoptive mother. He managed to find his way to the surface, half-starved and alone. During this ordeal, his parents had been killed and taken for reasons such as meat and scales. He was able to hide in a storage crate while the bandits took whatever items they could and left. It was towards the end of his fifth year, his nest was raided by bandits. Despite this, they took the time to teach him both Zasta and basic common to assist his future infiltration into human society. Eric spent the first 6 years of his life living with his parents and brother in the darker depths of the sewers, more or less in isolation.
